BIPOC somatic trauma therapist, halton ontario

Hi! I’m Emillie

She/Her/Hers

M.Ed., Registered Psychotherapist

My work is grounded in an understanding of how our family histories, cultural identities, and relationships shape who we become. I hold a Master of Education in Counselling Psychology and have supported young adults and adults navigating anxiety, co-dependent patterns, family conflict, and relational trauma.

In our sessions, I integrate somatic therapy, attachment-based approaches, and inner child work to help you reconnect with your body, rebuild a sense of safety from the inside out, and make sense of past experiences. My goal is to offer a supportive, attuned space where you feel understood and equipped to move toward meaningful change.

My Approach to Therapy

I believe therapy works best when it feels like a safe and supportive space to bring all of who you are—your culture, your story, your struggles, and your hopes. Together, we’ll explore what’s been weighing on you while also finding practical tools that make life feel a little lighter day to day.

My work is relational, experiential, and collaborative—rooted in somatic, attachment-based, and trauma-informed care. Together, we’ll explore the patterns that shape your emotions, body, and relationships so you can feel calmer, safer, and more connected to yourself and others.

  • Somatic therapy helps you reconnect with your body and nervous system to release stress and trauma stored over time. Through gentle awareness and grounding practices, you’ll learn to notice your body’s cues, regulate your emotions, and feel calmer and more present.

This body-based approach supports healing from anxiety, trauma, and chronic overwhelm—helping you feel safer and more in control.

  • Attachment-based therapy focuses on understanding how your early relationships shape the way you connect today. Together, we’ll explore patterns of closeness, conflict, or withdrawal so you can create secure, healthy connections with yourself and others.

This approach supports individuals navigating trust issues, communication struggles, or emotional disconnection.

  • Inner child work invites you to reconnect with younger parts of yourself that still carry unmet needs, pain, or memories of feeling unseen. By meeting these parts with compassion, you can release self-criticism, rebuild self-trust, and feel more whole.

This process is especially powerful for healing childhood emotional neglect, guilt, or the urge to please others.

  • Emotion-Focused Therapy helps you understand and transform the emotions that shape your thoughts, behaviors, and relationships. In sessions, we’ll explore how your emotions can guide healing rather than overwhelm you—helping you build emotional awareness, express yourself more freely, and deepen connection with others.

This approach is especially supportive for couples and individuals navigating emotional disconnection, communication struggles, or fear of vulnerability.

  • A trauma-informed approach means therapy moves at your pace, with safety and agency at the center of every session. You’ll never be pushed to revisit painful memories before you’re ready. Instead, we focus on building regulation, resilience, and trust in your body’s capacity to heal.

This framework supports clients experiencing anxiety, burnout, or emotional overwhelm—especially those healing from complex or cultural trauma.
